As the trees change, the foods in season do too. Remember it's always better to eat in season food.
In the entire world wide web, do you have a space for you? Don't let your social media be the only way that the world can find out information about you. Buy a domain and let it be your own space that you customize to represent you. Here are a few important things to know.
- It's always nice to own your name
- Make sure it's spelled correctly
- Make sure it represents you well. Don't buy a .tv or .biz if you are not in tv or going to have a biz
- .com, .net, .co, .org are the most popular.
- If your name is already taken, it's okay add your middle initial or shorten your name if you go buy it. For example, MichaelJones.com may be taken but try MikeJones or MJones or MichaelJ.
- Use promo codes found on retailmenot.com to help purchase your domain.
- If you are unsure of what to do with your domain, don't purchase more than one year.

Some people dread Mondays but honestly, it is just another day. As people work different schedules, Monday is not necessarily the beginning of someone's work day. It may be the end of the week for them or the middle of the week. The reality is that Monday is just a day of the week. Don't let the word Monday be a mood changer for you. Take some time and determine why you don't like Mondays. Do you not like the job that you go to on Monday? Why haven't you looked for a new job? Are Mondays too busy for you and that's why you don't like them? Maybe you need to work on time management and that's the real issue. Don't give Monday a bad rep when there's real issues you should be working on that have nothing to do with what day of the week it is.
Personally, I don't like getting up early on Mondays but I've learned that if I go to bed at a decent time on Sunday nights that Monday is no longer an issue for me.
Let me know if you like Mondays or not and why.
As we begin the month of June, let's try to eat in season.
Time is going by so fast. We have made it to the Month of May. April showers bring May flowers. May is a special month as it is Mother's Day and it's my mom's birth month too. (Hey Mom!)
May is the 5th month of the year and 5 means God's goodness and Grace. This reminds me of the 23rd Psalm which I memorized as a child.
"Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life: and I will dwell in the house of the LORD for ever." Psalm 23:6
I am thankful God's new grace and mercy every morning and that goodness and mercy follow me all the days of my life. Remember that the house of the Lord is not the church but you. This month, remember to give grace as it is given to you daily.
Be the church.
As the tempurature begins to rise outside, we have to make sure we are drinking enough water to stay hydrated. Most of your life you have been told to drink water. Here are a few reasons why you should drink water. Drink half your body weight in ounces to stay fully hydrated. Ex: If you weight 150 lbs then that would be considered 150 oz and you would drink 75 oz odf water. If you are on medication or doing some intense workouts, go ahead and drink some more.
April showers bring more flowers.
April is known to us as the fourth month and based on the old Roman calendar it is the second month. This means that the number 4 and 2 are both significant to the month. Four means creative or create while two means union/division or witnessing. This may seem confusing to some to have number 2 to mean union and division but division is similar to separation and usually in order to unite something into a union is has to be divided first. Spiritually thinking you are united with Christ after you divided from the world. "We are in the world but not of the world."
So during this month, I hope you pay attention to the details. We will be seeing some unions and some divided but the things that will be created will be worth the change.
Embrace the Change that is April.
From the first time I heard Oceans to the last time I heard it which was literally a few minutes ago, I still am in awe that it always helps usher me in to a different place within worship. The words of Oceans are not meant to just be sung but to be lived.
"Spirit lead me where my trust is without borders, let me walk upon the waters where ever you will call me"
I truly love this song but I tell people to be cautious of singing the words and using it for worship if they are not ready to live it out. It is a COMFORT ZONE KILLER. I've been out of my comfort zones plenty of times but lately, I've felt the nudge that I'm comfortable and it's time to shift. Part of me wants to pout and another part wants me to celebrate because it means there's something new for me to experience and learn. As I begin to leave my comfort zone again, I use this song as a reminder of how we all have to leave the zone and let the spirit lead us. The question is...will we leave or will we stay? When was the last time you were in a comfort zone and are you ready to leave it?
Happy Spring! Spring is a great time of year as the sun stays out longer which for me means I don't have the urge to nap just because the sun has set. I love spring because it stands for so many things. It's the beginning of a new season, flowers began to bloom which is growth and change, it also means to leap and push forth. This season is a time where we will see changes we've prayed and sown into. As the seeds have been in planted in fertile ground and watered with our prayers and praise, the harvest will soon come.
This past weekend was spring break and while out of town I was able to recognize some maturity and growth within myself and after an intimate conversation with a friend, I saw some development within some relationships. This is part of what Spring is all about.
As I think of all the scriptures that speak of spring and sometimes are about a spring full of water. I'm reminded of Isaiah 59 and how God says to forget the past but spring forth. In order to develop and mature we have to let go and move forward. Water our new seeds and gather the harvest. As I'm in the middle of grad school and I'm studying a new industry, this spring I will be releasing some old habits and preparing for better including my niche in my new industry. What will you be working on this Spring?
My diet has been trash lately and I honestly can't deal with it anymore. I refuse to be miserable and that is what happens when I am not eating well. As I try to eat in season, I recognize this month splits winter and spring. There are some amazing fruits and vegetables that are just right for the month of March. Eating in season is really important because it keeps your cost low and flavor is ripe.
- Brussel Sprouts
- Sweet potatoes
Are there certain foods you plan on eating this month? Are there certain recipes you will be trying this month?
Happy March. It seems like time is moving really fast but I'm grateful to see another month in the presence of God. March is a special month to me as it's the month my parents got married. March is the third month and biblically three means completeness/perfection. March means to be alert, quick, and prompt. During this month make sure you are alert and paying attention to what God is telling you. God wants to do a complete work in us and we have to do our part. Doing our part includes loving others and doing our best. Some scripture to remember this month is Colossians 3:12-17.
February, the month most call the month of love but honestly every month should be a month of love. February is derived from latin februare which means to purify. Use this month to do just that purify your heart mind and body. Purify means to remove contaminants and cleanse. Remember the scripture "Do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit who is in you, whom you have received from God? You are not your own;you were bought at a price. Therefore glorify God with your body." 1 Corinthians 6:19-20
Let me know how you plan on purifying. I will be posting more information on ways to purify.
